Camera ppi versus printer ppi

• Camera pixels have 8 bits / color

• Printer has 4 - 6 bits for all colors

• To match shades, the printer has to mix colors ("dither")

• Printer needs ~4x dpi to match camera ppi

• For example, 300 ppi image -> 1200 dpi printing
