PCUGR This
Years General Meetings …
To give you a better idea of the activities of our club, below you'll find some
of our recent meetings with their topics
August
General
Meeting
Stump
the PCUGR Panelists!
The
PCUGR invited anyone and everyone to stump our panel of computer enthusiasts at the August
meeting. Mike Clark will hold the Novice Question-and-Answer Session at its
regular time (6:30 p.m.), and then, at 7:30, a panel of computer enthusiasts
will join Mike for an extended question-and-answer session.
Have
you finally solved a problem you've been having for a long time? Why don't
you try to stump the panel, and share your new found knowledge? On the flip
side, have you been dealing with an issue that seems to have no resolution?
Ask, we'll do our best to answer.
There
are a couple of guidelines on the questions. We are a club with a wide range
of computer familiarity and knowledge. The panelists will be happy to answer
difficult questions, but you may be asked to hold your question until the
end of the evening. The same case will hold true for questions relating to specific
software packages.
The
panel is to tentatively include Mike Clark, Ben Ezzell, Jeff Basham, Rawls
Frazier and various other PCUGR members and Board members.

Our featured
speaker for the March 14th meeting will be Brian Jaquet of
Handspring, Inc., manufacturer of the Visor Handhelds and their newest
product, the Treo Communicator.
|
| The
Treo™ communicator is the one device that does it all!
So you'll have your phone, Palm OS® organizer, email, SMS text messaging
and wireless web all in one incredibly compact device.
|
|
Treo is a compact communicator that
integrates the functions of a mobile phone and a handheld computer with Web
browsing and text messaging. Treo is small, measuring 4.3 x 2.7 x 0.7 inches
and weighing only 5.2 ounces, but its flip-design makes possible a
large screen suitable for Web page viewing and text messaging.
The Treo has
a rechargeable battery, a rocker switch for easy one-handed navigation and a
speakerphone.
It will also be able to take advantage of the future benefits
of GPRS (General Packet Radio Service), a new industry standard optimized
for wireless data transfer, with user-installable software that Handspring
plans to deliver this summer.
Handspring also intends to introduce an
automated email solution later this year that will allow access to corporate
email behind the firewall.

Digital Photography Redux
redux:
(pronounced ri-ducks) means "brought back, revived or restored".
Presented by Rawls Frazier, PCUGR Member
This month Rawls, who penned our first on-line review of Adobe's Photoshop
Elements will give the presentation on digital photography, one of the hot
new areas in the world of bits and bytes. If
you don’t already own a digital camera chances are you will be getting one
soon and can take advantage of Rawls insights before you commit all your hard earned
dollars. If you remember our October meeting "Capture and
Share," HP surveyed their digital products both camera and printers.
This time Rawls will give us a more personal view of this new area.
Join Rawls Frazier with assistance from other members who own digital
cameras shared his
experiences, photos, software suggestions, information sources, rants and raves.
A great Valentine's Day Treat.
